sri lankan love cake
Sri Lankan love cake is a creation based on
the presence in 16th Century Sri Lanka of the
Portuguese, when Portugal was the dominant power
in the European spice trade. The story behind the
name is that women in Portugal would add secret
ingredients (rose, cinnamon and cardamon) to their
cakes and feed them to the objects of their desire
who would then fall deeply in love with them!.

You Need: 50g plain flour
125g semolina
125g butter
3 eggs
150g soft brown sugar
110 g cashew nuts
1/2 a lemon zested
2 tbsp honey
kit contents:Cake Spices: ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla powder, ground
cardamon, ground rose petals.
Syrup Spices: rose petals, cinnamon quill
preparation time: 30 minutes plus 40 minutes cooking time
Makes approx. 12 small pieces
