Can i choose what's in my spicebox?

The contents of each box are fixed so it's not possible to mix and match the contents. Having said that, you're welcome to check what's on the way each month here and substitute an alternative box if you'd prefer (as long as you let us know by the 15th of the month!)

When will my order arrive?

Your 1st box will be sent out within 48 hours by 1st class post (or airmail for overseas orders) unless you specify a particular start date (birthday, Christmas etc). In that case your box will be sent to arrive just before that date with 'don't open until.....!' on the front

When will the next delivery arrive?

The 1st box can be sent at any time, the next boxes are sent out at the end of every month. If your start date was the 15th of the month or later, the next box will be at the end of the following month to avoid being overwhelmed with them. The recipient can also choose to have the boxes on alternate months if they prefer

What happens if they're out when the box arrives?

That shouldn't be a problem as the boxes are designed to fit through a letterbox so no need to be home when they arrive. The contents will last in prime condition for a couple of weeks so it's not a problem if they're on holiday when a box arrives

What happens if the recipes don't work?

We test each recipe at least 10 times before sending out the boxes so are confident each one will work right every time. If you ever have a problem please get in touch and we'll work out and explain what went wrong and send a replacement pack of spices to try again

The recipient lives alone, will the spices be too much for them?

The recipes are designed to make enough for 4 and are best if made in a single batch, but all the cooked dishes should last for a few days (and many even improve after a day or two!) so even someone with the smallest appetite shouldn't have a problem using up the box contents

How will the recipient know the gift is from me?

The 1st box contains a greetings card showing who the gift is from, an explanation of how the spiceboxes work and any personal message you'd like to add

The recipient doesn't like anything too hot, will they be able to eat the final dishes?

None of the recipes are really ridiculously hot, the aim is to add flavour and fragrance rather than heat. As a general rule, the Season & Spice boxes are more family-friendly but there's a heat rating for each dish in the boxes and the recipients are welcome to check each month and substitute an alternative box if they prefer

The recipient is an inexperienced cook, will they be able to make the recipes?

We try very hard to make the recipes accessible to everyone and the cooking techniques, equipment required and the fresh ingredients you need to make the dishes are always very simple and achievable for even the most inexperienced cook. Having said that, there are always exciting and unusual ingredients used in the recipes so even the most jaded culinary adventurer will find something new in the boxes to get excited about!

Can i send boxes overseas?

Yes, that's not a problem - we can send the boxes by airmail anywhere in the world (except Australia unfortunately due to their customs regulations on food imports)
