Spice News - April 2024

How to use this month's free sample

This month's free sample is a fragrant herb blend based on a classic Herbes de Provence mix. The combination of aromatic mountain herbs such as thyme, savory and sage with garlic, tarragon, sea salt and a tiny pinch of sweet, floral lavender provides a real taste of summer! Use it to marinate chicken, fish, or veg and pair with new potatoes and salad for a light, fresh meal.

Herbes de Provence Seasoning Recipe:

You Need:

4 chicken breasts, boneless thighs (skinless) or fish fillets, or use thinly sliced aubergine or courgettes for a veg version
1 clove of garlic - finely grated or crushed
1 lemon
3 tbsp olive oil

Method:

Preheat the BBQ or preheat the oven to 200°C/gas mark 6

Mix the garlic, juice of ½ the lemon, olive oil and HERBES DE PROVENCE SEASONING to make a paste then stir in the chicken to coat

Wrap the chicken (including all of the marinade) in a foil parcel then grill on a low-medium heat (or bake on a tray in the oven), turning occasionally, for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through

Serve with the remaining ½ lemon to squeeze over at the table

We asked our customers to rate their favourite (or least favourite) recipes this month...

"One of our all time favourite Spicery kits! We’ve enjoyed quite a few, and this one was especially good - really tasty chilli, and the cornbread topping is a great idea we’ll definitely be making again."

Our 'End of Month Treat' (to celebrate getting all of March's spiceboxes in the post) was rather egg-cellent, and certainly brightened up the morning's box-folding session...

... and there's also been lots of egg-citing things happening in the Spicery kitchen! These eggs are boiled, cracked and then soaked in tea, soy sauce and spices, resulting in an amazing marbled effect beneath the shell. One of the recipes we're currently testing for our latest project!

Spicery boss James recently returned from a trip to Morocco, where he explored the fragrant souks and vibrant food scenes of Fes, Tangier and Marrakesh.
