Chicken Shatkora Night
A tangy restaurant curry straight from the specials menu...
SERVES: 4
As many as 90% of the Indian restaurants in Britain are owned by Bangladeshis, so some of the dishes, like this chicken shatkora, are actually of Bangladeshi origin. Shatkora is a bitter citrus fruit from Bangladesh, the rind of which is used to flavour curries - it has a very similar flavour to the grapefruit we’re using here as a substitute - although you can use shatkora rind if you can get hold of some! The shatkora curry is served here with a classic restaurant dish of Bombay potatoes, rice flavoured with a rose petal masala, a fiery Naga brinjal pickle and a cooling raita.

Another of our now legendary Spicery Curry Nights. Definitely would say the Naga Brinjal pickle was FIERY! After googling Naga chillis now I know why. A really good tasting curry with the usual excellently matched sides. Thank you THE SPICERY for another inspiring foodie evening.
We both enjoyed all 5 parts that went to make up this delicious meal. I particularly liked the Naga Brinjal Pickle which was very fiery! Thank you, John.
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy spicing!
That's some hot pickle! Flavours were great. This is our 2nd kit and we're beginning to enjoy using almost every pan in the kitchen. It's worth it!
Great work - this looks yummy! We're so happy to hear how much you're enjoying your subscription, and have found the carnage in the kitchen to be worth the end result!
Another delicious meal, enjoyed by us all! Easy to follow instructions and a good assortment of flavours!
This looks amazing, Angela - great job! We're so pleased it went down a treat. Happy spicing!
Chicken Shatkora night - a real treat! especially with the chicken done in the slow cooker. Only two of us, so enough frozen for another treat when I don't feel like cooking :o)
We're so glad to hear how much you loved this dish, Sue! It's always great to have some leftovers in the freezer, ready for a lazy day. Happy spicing!
