Date Night in Vienna
Vienna, with its famous bakeries, opulent opera houses, and old-school charm is said to be one of the world’s most romantic cities. We’re hoping to take a little of that romance and combine it with all the wonderful flavours of traditional Austrian cuisine to produce a date night to remember! To begin we’ve got some delicately-flavoured caraway potato pancakes served with smoked salmon. Then there’s a classic Wiener saftgulasch (Viennese stock goulash) made with the finest Hungarian paprika. Finally - in a nod to the famous Viennese bakeries - we’ve got a delicious poppy seed and apple streusel cake.

- 100g smoked salmon or trout
- 400g diced beef
- 1 large onion
- 500g floury potatoes
- ½ cucumber
- 1 large eating apple
- 150ml sour cream
- 65g cold butter
- 2 eggs (any size)
- 50ml vinegar (white wine or cider vinegar is best)
- 115g sugar
- 150g self-raising flour
- Vanilla ice cream to serve with the dessert (or use extra sour cream)
