Mumbai Club Sandwich
Description | This month, two iconic sandwich recipes join forces; the club sandwich - thought to have originated at the prestigious Union Club in New York in the 1880's - meets a favourite Mumbai street food, the Bombay sandwich. Here, the club sandwich's traditional sliced, cooked poultry and warm white bread are replaced by spicy tandoori chicken and homemade naans, while mayonnaise is ditched in favour of chutney (two chutneys, in fact!) - sweet, sticky mango, and zingy coriander. On the side, in place of crisps or chips we’ve got aloo tikki - delicious spiced potato fritters - served with a tangy tamarind chutney and a refreshing lettuce wedge salad served with a creamy ranch raita dressing. |
