Nyonya Chicken Curry - Sichuan Spicy Rice Bowl
Nyonya Chicken Curry:
The word ‘nyonya’ is a respectful term for the female elder of the Peranakan community - descendants of Chinese migrants who settled in Malaysia and Singapore then intermarried with the locals. Here we’re making a chicken curry consisting of incredibly tender meat in a rich and spicy sauce. It's served with a spicy chilli sambal - the region's favourite condiment!
Sichuan Spicy Rice Bowl:
Sichuan province is famous across China and increasingly around the world for its flavoursome and unique dishes. Hot chillies and Sichuan pepper feature in much of the cooking and the term ‘mala’ in Chinese refers to the associated numbing and spicy flavour. Here we've got a modern-day version of a Sichuan feast - sticky rice topped with greens, ginger pickled radishes, a traditional sweet, sour and spicy chicken dish (gong bao chicken) and a moreish chilli sauce.

Have loved absolutely everything about the experience of making these dishes over the last few months. A fantastic gift for a curry enthusiast; they are a labour of love but well worth it!
I was absolutely amazed that I created this delicious meal at home. If I ordered it in a chinese restaurant I would have been blown away, so to say I made it myself was just incredible. One of my favourites so far.
