Can I choose what's in my spicebox? Unfortunately you can't choose exactly what you get as we do have set subscription boxes. However, you can swap your box month-by-month to any of the other 5 or 6 box types available if you don't fancy the set box you're due (just login to switch boxes on or before the 15th of the month!).
Can I have the first box delivered to myself to give in person?
Of course! Inside the first box is a gift card with your personal message AND a unique redemption code - this must then be activated on our website (redeem your voucher here) to then receive all subsequent boxes.

Can I send the frst box direct to the recipient?
Also yes! At the checkout you can specify a delivery address that is different to your billing address. You can also select a specific date on which you'd like the first box to be delivered! Please note: the recipient will still need to activate their subscription (redeem your voucher here) using the redemption code contained inside the gift card to then receive all subsequent boxes.
When will my order arrive?
Your first box (including your redemption code) will be despatched within 48 hours by Royal Mail (or airmail
for overseas orders) unless you specify a particular start date (birthday,
Christmas etc). In that case your box will be sent to arrive on or just before
When will the next delivery arrive? We have recently changed the timings of the second box - see below for when to expect your next box:
Any voucher ending 1015 (orders placed after 27th October 2015)
If a subscription is activated between 1st-27th of the month, the second box will be sent on the 27th of that month e.g. Redeem on 20th Dec 2015 = next box sent on 27th Dec 2015
Redemptions made on the 28th of the month will then wait until the 27th of the following month e.g. Redeem on 28th Dec 2015 = nextbox sent on 27th January 2016
Any other voucher code will be sent within 2 working days of redemption
The remaining Spiceboxes (box three onwards) will be sent on the 27th of the month following the second box.
Can I send boxes overseas?
Yes, that's not a problem - we can send the boxes by airmail anywhere
in the world (except Australia unfortunately
due to their customs regulations on food imports). When ordering your First Box for delivery direct to the recipient the additional cost for the full length of the subscription will be calculated at the checkout - recipient will incur no further cost!
What happens if they're out when the box arrives?
That shouldn't be a problem as the boxes are designed to fit through
a letterbox so no need to be home when they arrive. The contents will
last in prime condition for up to a year, so it's not a problem if
they're on holiday when a box arrives.
How will the recipient know the gift is from me?
The First Box contains a greetings card with your personal message (don't forget to write one at the checkout!) which includes an
explanation of how to redeem and their voucher number.
The recipient doesn't like anything too hot, will they be able
to eat the final dishes?
None of the recipes are really ridiculously hot - the aim is to add flavour
and fragrance rather than heat. As a general rule, the World Kitchen Explorer or Indian Restaurant Favourites boxes are more family-friendly but there's a heat rating
for each dish in the boxes and the recipients are welcome to check each
month and substitute an alternative box if they prefer.
The recipient is an inexperienced cook, will they be able to
make the recipes?
We try very hard to make the recipes accessible to everyone and the cooking
techniques, equipment required and the fresh ingredients you need to make
the dishes are always very simple and achievable for even the most inexperienced
Having said that, there are always exciting and unusual ingredients
used in the recipes so even the most jaded culinary adventurer will find
something new in the boxes to get excited about!
What about allergens and gluten free?
Any allergens are clearly underlined on the ingredients for each box and on the website so you'll know exactly what is in each spice blend. Our products do not contain nuts but we do have nuts in the building that we use for recipe testing so we can't guarantee that our products are 100% nut free.
We strive to make our recipes very adaptable in terms of ingredients you use, so it should be quite easy to swap for your own alternative ones. Our spices do not contain gluten so feel free to drop us a quick email, and we can make sure to send gluten-free recipes only (or suggest ingredients substitutions) so that you don't have to worry about it.
What happens if the recipes don't work?
We test each recipe at least 10 times before sending out the boxes so are confident each one will work right every time. If you ever have a problem please get in touch and we'll work out and explain what went wrong and send a replacement pack of spices to try again.
