Sri Lankan Kottu Roti with Lunu Miris ~ Love Cake

Kottu translates from Sinhalese as chopped, and this hugely popular Sri Lankan street food consists of chopped up roti, stir-fried with vegetables and eggs. It’s typically cooked on a heated iron sheet using two blunt blades to mix and chop - a distinctive sound which can be heard everywhere in Sri Lanka! For dessert we’ve got a traditional dessert of Portuguese origin known as love cake flavoured with rose, cinnamon and cardamon. All the spices in this cake were regarded as powerful aphrodisiacs, including rose which is known as the ‘Queen of Love’!
