Vietnamese Tacos with Chipotle Tuong Ot Xa
Description | Vietnam and Mexico share a tradition of cheap and tasty foods eaten on the street. Both cuisines use plenty of fresh herbs, zingy citrus flavours and powerful spices which make them the perfect cuisines to fuse together to make these delicious tacos! Here we’re using 2 traditional Vietnamese dishes as taco fillings - a sticky caramel pork belly flavoured with star anise, ginger and cassia, and a fish dish unique to Hanoi known as cha ca thang long, flavoured with turmeric and dill. The tacos can be customized with crunchy chilli peanuts, Vietnamese chilli sauce (tuong ot xa) flavoured with smoky chipotle chilli, fresh herbs, guacamole and sour cream, all with a noodle salad on the side. |

This was lovely and I enjoyed making all the components, I would have scored 5/5 but the fish dish had a lot of dill in it which isn’t my favourite (that’s totally personal choice though - my partner loved it and the dog was super interested). I will be making the noodle salad again and the chilli peanuts again for sure!
