There are two ideas about the name ‘balti’: one is that it originates from Baltistan in Pakistan, and another that it’s an English translation of the Urdu word for ‘bucket’ referring to the dish it’s cooked in - whichever is true, it’s now become something of a British classic!

So good that people would not even wait while I grabbed my phone for a picture - also had Jalfrezi kit (also 5/5/amazing) - time renew that subscription!

Served with a side of tomato pachadi and wild rice!

Looks like a brilliant Balti and a perfect Pachadi for a cooling element of the meal- a winning combination!

Really happy with our first box but held back on some of the spices (used 1/2 to 3/4 of each sachet) to make this a family friendly feast. Cauliflower dish will become a regular I’m sure.

Glad you enjoyed this- looks like a delicious feast for the family! Pretty pattern on the tablecloth too!

Our first box and WOW what a recipe! Super easy to follow, all aspects of the dish were amazing, the cauliflower 90 was bangin & the Balti itself was rich & spicy with a thick sauce & full of flavour.

Hats off to the chef! That is some feast to create for your first Spicery box- we look forward to seeing your next creations!

Amazing ! Really easy to make and the cauliflower 90 was stunning! The Balti itself was not too spicy yet so flavourful. Love the salad and the Raita ♥️ Will make again!

WOW what a beautiful Balti! Everything looks delicious and we love the blue crockery- so pretty!

First meal cooked following the recipe from the book, fabulous meal, tasted as if we were in a top notch Indian restaurant. Cooked the lamb slightly longer than the hour stated on the recipe to ensure the lamb was softer.

This looks great, Shaun - definitely restaurant-quality! We're so happy to hear how much you enjoyed it. Happy spicing!

The Balti is a firm favourite. Often we go chicken but we went lamb tonight and loved it!

You can't beat a classic Balti! Nice job switching it up from your usual and trying lamb this time - great to hear how much you enjoyed it!

This really is a superb recipe. Deeply spiced with the Methi and Haldi blends and picante with Mirchi and added green chillies. My wife’s favourite of all the Curry Legend recipes I have cooked. Thanks for making me look like a Curry Legend ;)

You ARE a Curry Legend, Jim (we just provide the tools)! Great to hear that this classic cury recipe has stood out as a particular favourite for you both! Happy spicing!
