Nyonya Chicken Curry with Chilli Sambal
The word ‘nyonya’ is a respectful term for the female elder of the Peranakan community - descendants of Chinese migrants who settled in Malaysia and Singapore then intermarried with the locals. Here we’re making a chicken curry consisting of incredibly tender meat in a rich and spicy sauce. It's served with a spicy chilli sambal - the region's favourite condiment!

Found the spices in the back of a cupboard, dated 2014. Risked them and was right to do so. Turned cucumber salad into Kosambari, The braised Aubergines and Sambal were delicious too. What a Nonya Feast.
Fiery Sambal compliments the curry flavours beautifully & the Spring rolls were so much fun to make.
It's great to hear how much you enjoyed this meal, Paul, and that you had fun making it too! Everything looks delicious!
Not enough chicken left over from a roast so added leek, mushroom and a pepper to make it up. Added a little extra Coconut milk to keep the consistency as we like and the result was great - but what else do we expect from the Spicery? Thank you.
Yum! Looks like a fantastic combination of flavours to us - glad you really enjoyed this!
Excellent dish. Enjoyed using chicken leg for a change.
We have had excellent customer service from The Spicery and recommended them to our family and friends. Originally it was bought as a gift for us but now we have our own subscription.
Very helpful when telephoned but it is a bit confusing as I wanted to order sets for my brother who does not have any time to log on but this was not an option. I got round this by a different delivery address but was told unless I had a subscription I could not order the box sets but I can so that was good.
Baught these products several times for myself and family. We love the variation and how well put togethet and clear the recipe cards are. This makes a great gift especially for those with adventurous taste buds!
