USES: Used as a souring, thickening and tenderising agent in North Indian cooking. Useful either as a dry seasoning, in a marinade or as a flavour enhancer (the sourness is a useful substitute for lemon, vinegar or tamarind) in curries or chutneys.
ORIGIN: India
1 tbsp refill = approx 8 grams
4 tbsp refill = approx 29 grams (fits standard supermarket spice jar)

I ordered a spicebox subscription for a friend but couldn't find how to change the delivery address so after it was ordered I emailed and got an immediate response from a real named person saying they would change the delivery address for me. They did and it arrived.
Service (i.e. ordering, delivery) all as efficient as ever. Sad about the move to "sets", "recipes" etc and concomittant drop in number of single spices, herbs etc
...excellent packaging. Have been cooking Indian food for 60 years - how I wish I had found the Spicery earlier. I have never smelt such fresh smelling spices especially the asafoetida in my order. Cannot recommend too highly to others.
