In L.A., nearly half the population is of Hispanic or Latino descent and another 10% is of Asian descent - it’s no wonder the cuisine there is an exciting medley of flavours and ingredients! Head spicerer Robyn visited Los Angeles where she did some thorough investigating into an icon of the local food scene - the Korean BBQ taco - which features as our main course for this date night. The starter is another iconic Californian fusion food, sushi in the form of the California roll. Finally there’s a refreshing grapefruit and lemon verbena sorbet and cookies flavoured with rosemary and green pepper.

So delicious!

Great job with the California rolls, Liz - they look perfect!

I enjoyed this kit on the whole. The starter was a fun challenge to make and tasted nice. I really enjoyed the main course. The dessert was a bit of a disappointment as the sorbet was a lot of faff without being all that nice

It's great to hear that you really enjoyed the starter and main course in this box, but we're sorry that the dessert was disappointing. We appreciate your feedback and will take another look at this recipe!

We had so much fun making our first Date Box! We'd never made California Rolls together but we both love them so we'll definitely try again. The wraps were delicious too and but the pudding divided us ( oh well, more for me...)

We're so pleased to hear how much you loved your first Date Night box - it all looks vibrant and delicious (and beautifully presented in your lovely bowls!). Sorry to hear that your other half wasn't a huge fan of the dessert, but at least that meant more for you to enjoy!

Sushi a bit fiddly, but delicious. Mains sweet and spicy and delicious. Granita refreshing and a lovely way to round it off… especially if you can eat biscuits with it!

This looks like a delicious meal, Elizabeth! Well done for persevering with that fiddly sushi, and it's great to hear how much you enjoyed the reward of the dessert at the end!
