This month's free sample is a fragrant herb blend based on a classic Herbes de Provence mix. The combination of aromatic mountain herbs such as thyme, savory and sage with garlic, tarragon, sea salt and a tiny pinch of sweet, floral lavender provides a real taste of summer! Use it to marinate chicken, fish, or veg and pair with new potatoes and salad for a light, fresh meal.

HERBES DE PROVENCE SEASONING (1 portion = ½ tbsp): chervil, cubeb pepper, lavender, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, salt, savory, tarragon, bay, parsley, coriander, mint, chilli

May contain CELERY, MUSTARD and SESAME. Allergens are listed in CAPITALS

Herbes de Provence Seasoning Recipe:

You Need: 

  • 4 chicken breasts, boneless thighs (skinless) or fish fillets, or use thinly sliced aubergine or courgettes for a veg version
  • 1 clove of garlic - finely grated or crushed
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 tbsp olive oil


  1. Preheat the BBQ or preheat the oven to 200°C/gas mark 6
  2. Mix the garlic, juice of ½ the lemon, olive oil and HERBES DE PROVENCE SEASONING to make a paste then stir in the chicken to coat
  3. Wrap the chicken (including all of the marinade) in a foil parcel then grill on a low-medium heat (or bake on a tray in the oven), turning occasionally, for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through
  4. Serve with the remaining ½ lemon to squeeze over at the table

The first chance we had to get out and have tea in the garden this year was marked with this beautiful free sample. Perfectly flavoured the chicken, great with a potato salad and loved by the children. So tasty - made us feel like the summer BBQ season is on the way!

Used this for an easy dinner after receiving freebie sample. Cooked inside and served with jersey royals and asparagus. Full marks to the chef from the teenagers, praise indeed!
