Junior Spicerer (Warehouse)

The Spicery is a fast-growing recipe kit business (established in 2004), selling direct to tens of thousands of home cooks around the world. We’ve more than doubled sales in recent years, so are now looking for part-time  Junior Spicerers to join the team. The new role would be based in the warehouse where you would be hands-on, working as part of the production team to get all our products made accurately and delivered on time. The working day would involve you working alongside the dispatch supervisor, production manager, spice blender and packing staff. Every day would involve something different, from helping assemble and pack the products, grind and mix the spices, and pick and pack orders to be sent directly to our customers.

It’s a great opportunity to learn about all the various processes and functions involved in taking a product from concept to a physical item delivered to the customer. There will also be opportunities to work across other areas of the business over time, as we do everything in-house from writing and testing the recipes, photography and design, customer service and marketing. It’s still a small company (between 15 and 25 people on-site at any time) so you’ll have a chance to work alongside everyone here as we all help out across different sections at busy times.

We have a friendly team and are therefore looking for someone very personable, able to think and work fast, communicate well, be nice to people and be happy spending the working day covered in a light dusting of ground spices! In return we have an array of spicy perks including a delicious staff lunch every day where you get to taste our latest recipes, bonuses to fund your travels, paid training opportunities and a relaxed and supportive working atmosphere.

Ideally you’d have a genuine interest in good food from around the world and all the countries and cultures that produce it, but aptitude and interest are just as important. It’s a great opportunity to start your career as opportunities will arise over time to specialise in different areas, and we always like to promote from within so there will be regular opportunities to expand your knowledge, learn new skills and progress quickly.
