Panpepato from the Spicery Christmas Around the World Gift Box Unusual mix of spicy sticky nutty chocolate. Very tasty indeed. Quick and easy to make. Would make great homemade gifts
I was given this "Spicery Christmas Around the World Gift Box" Advent Calendar as a present. This was the Borscht (No spoilers. I won't say which window!) I couldn't believe how moreish it was. It was sweeter than I was expecting, but very, very delicious.
That vibrant red colour is absolutely fantastic! It's great to hear how much you enjoyed this unusual Eastern European Christmas dish, and we hope you love all the surprises to come in your advent calendar!

For starters I am grateful that the spicery will ship to the U.S.. This is now our third Christmas advent calendar (curries, and food trucks completed) and this one hands down is my ultimate favorite! This will be the first time we will actually finish the 12 day advent calendar in December. Normally it takes us about 6months to 1 year to finish the advent calendars but this calendar is beyond delicious and so far safe for my food allergies and sensitivities. I was concerned or apprehensive that this calendar would be filled with predominantly pastries and deserts but thankfully out of the 8 days we have completed so far there have only been 2 deserts! I will be buying this again for myself and as gifts next year.. unless there is a new one for me to try.

Goan Xacutti from the "Spicery Christmas around the World" advent calendar was a pleasant surprise. It had a deep intense flavour and quite a kick!
Our intention behind this advent calendar was to introduce you to some slightly more unusual dishes that you might not have tried before, so we're really happy to hear that this Goan Xacutti did just that, and was a pleasant surprise! Happy spicing!
I'm working my way through the Spicery Christmas Around the World Gift Box. This was the Mole Poblano. Wow! This recipe took me by surprise, it is a stunner. The sauce was so rich, with an intense savoury flavour and has a gentle warmth to it. The end result exceeded my expectations.

I have really been enjoying all the dishes from Spicery Christmas Around the World Gift Box. The Ethiopian Doro Wat is good, but not as nearly good as the others in my opinion. I absolutely loved the chicken part of the dish, the flavour of the sauce was deep and intense. By contrast however the vegetable part of the dish is not strongly flavoured and can't compete with the strong flavour of the chicken.
We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the chicken component of this dish, Robin - but sorry that this wasn't your favourite one from the gift box!
The "Kristang Feng Curry" from the "Spicery Christmas Around the World Gift Box" was amazing. The curry had such a tremendous flavour and the addition of the ginger to the veg gave it a flavour boost to match the curry. I was delighted to find that this curry can be made from "Curry Legend World Tour" book, so I will be making this again in the not too distant future.
Great to hear how much you loved this one, Robin - we hope you enjoy cooking the Curry Legend version just as much!
As I have never made pastry or a pie before, the "Creole Savoury Pies with Tomato Rougail" from the "Spicery Christmas Around the World" seemed slightly daunting. However I amazed myself, family and friends. They were great! Thank you Spicery.
Wow, Robin - those creole pies look fantastic! We're loving the little star decorations, and the perfect golden colour of the pastry. Hopefully this has inspired you to cook some more pastry recipes (Curry Legend Balti Pie is a game-changer!)
