As always, here at the Spicery, we’re intent on spicing up your lives - so, why not have a change from a traditional roast with our version of an Indian dish known as raan lamb? Here, the succulent lamb shoulder is coated in a mouth-watering crust of ground almonds, yogurt and spices. We’re serving it with a spicy potato and carrot stew as well as a buttery makhani dahl (to replace gravy), an opulent saffron pilau rice scattered with rose petals and a subji to utilise all the delicious spring vegetables available at this time of the year.

  • 750g baby new potatoes
  • 3 large carrots
  • 500g mixture of spring veg (eg purple sprouting broccoli, asparagus, green beans etc)
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 2 large onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Fresh ginger
  • 25g bunch of coriander
  • 1 lemon
  • 400g natural yogurt (full fat is best)
  • 75g butter
  • 50g raisins
  • 100g ground almonds
  • 250g ready-cooked beluga or puy lentils or cook your own
  • 400g basmati or standard long grain rice
  • 1 tsp sugar

Lightly spiced lamb perfect for a different Easter Sunday meal. I served the Dhal in a gravy boat. Enjoyed by all.

Easter Sunday dinner with an Indian twist. It had to be lamb so swapped my subscription set meal for this. And a a good choice too. Made our own parathas so it was a meal and a half! But plenty left for another meal ... or two!

This was awesome! The lamb fell off the bone but had lovely spicy crispy skin. The rice was beautiful and aloo carrots and potatoes were something else. We absolutely loved this myself and my daughter who cooked the majority of it thought this one is our best and favourite dish. Perfect alternative Easter Sunday roast for e family.
