Aesthetically beautiful and with a sweet, powerful aniseed scent and flavour with elements of liquorice, star anise is widely used in Chinese cooking.
USES: Add whole star anise to flavour a noodle soup or to a spicy stew. Add a couple of star anise to the braising liquid for pork or beef, especially good with ginger, garlic and soy. Use star anise powder to make your own marinades or Chinese-style BBQ rub.
All our spicestore ingredients are now sold as refills and come in compostable bags (made from wood pulp), so just decant the contents into your existing spice jars or Spicery stackable tins and dispose of the bag in your compost and food waste bin!
