Super Food Around the World - China
Rejuvenate your body and nourish your soul the traditional Chinese medicine way...
Herbs and spices have been used in Chinese cooking and medicine for thousands of years, with ingredients such as ginseng, black sesame and star anise used to aid digestion and improve cholesterol among other things. It is believed that in a healthy body, qi (or chi – an energy life force) flows through smoothly and strongly, achieved in part through a balanced diet based on foods with health-giving properties. Here, we are serving congee – a rice dish which is easy to digest and very simple to cook – along with spice-infused tea eggs and vinegar pork to create a nutritiously flavoursome, satisfying meal.
