We've used the original 4 special Curry Legend blends, and taken them on a world tour. From the herb-scented curries of the Caribbean, to South African Bunny Chow and the mild curries of Mauritius. From the Mamak stalls of Malaysia to the Katsu curries of Japan and the fragrant curries of Northern Thailand, we've explored the world and discovered that everyone loves a good curry.

A centuries-long combination of trade, migration and the sheer deliciousness of Indian food has meant that the whole world now loves curry AND has their own unique way of making it! Interestingly, despite these local differences, many of these curries share a common DNA in terms of the spices used to flavour them, and the cooking techniques to make them, so it's easy to recreate them with the same special 4 Curry Legend blends.

We tried the Burmese Golden Egg curry with Samosas. It was lovely as the whole family got involved with making it. My son got stuck into making the samosas, which you can see in our picture, which was fun. This was not our favorite box, a lot of prep and cooking but lacking in flavour delivery unfortunately.

5/5

Cooked for two hours, using supermarket beef, which was surprisingly tender! Have never cooked with lemongrass up to doing so with this recipe, but it produced a delightful meal, combined with fresh ginger, lime and the spice mix. I topped the dish with crispy battered shallots, another (tasty) first, and a boiled egg. Highly recommended!

Robert Leach View More

We hope you enjoyed your first time cooking with lemongrass - it's so fragrant, and really adds a gorgeous, aromatic flavour to the dish! It's great to hear that your beef was lovely and tender too. Brilliant job!

Yum - this looks like a really warming, hearty dish! Great improvisation with the leftover Mazavaroo chilli sauce to add a bit more heat!

5/5

This is a phenomenal curry! Mild and creamy with the spice of the mazavaroo chilli sauce and the cooling but slightly spicy pineapple. I also added some bashed cardamom pods to the rice when cooking.

Helen Mackenow View More

Fantastic job, Helen, this all looks so delicious! It's great to hear how much you enjoyed it!

4/5

My presentation is shocking...but this tasted so so good. So the kottu Roti was my main, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was just about the right level of spice for me and I liked that it was fairly easy to cook once the prep was done as it is essentially a stir fry. It's a really good recipe for cabbage which is a veg I don't normally have unless I'm making coleslaw so loved using a new veg for a main course and side dish. It went well with the 2 sides...Sri lankan Mallung...which was fantastic and will be made again!! And coconut Dhal...another one that will be a staple with my curries. I also made the Chapatti bread for the kotu roti myself from the curry legend book. There was a lot of prep for this meal, it was a challenge for someone who is by no means a professional chef...I'm a 20 minutes to chop an onion kinda girl...but it was doable, I did it and I'm so proud of myself. Me and my partner would definitely put the kottu Roti into a regular rotation for a really good curry.

Sharon Mchugh View More

Wow - you certainly should be proud of yourself, Sharon! It looks like you did a fantastic job, and great work adding some chapatis on the side as well. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed this dish and are planning to make it a regular meal. Happy spicing!

5/5

Absolutely gorgeous. I ended up adding the entire tin of coconut milk, so as not to waste any, and reducing the amount of water accordingly. Just made it richer and creamier. I think I made a mistake adding the finely sliced shallot (in my case red onion) to the pickle but it was still super delicious. I also had some left over bean sprouts which I added in the following day with some prawns for lunch. This recipe is so good that my neighbour saw a photo and has now also bought the curry legend world curry book and set and I’ve got money to put towards the Curry legend set! :-)

Helen Mackenow View More

Great job, Helen - this looks absolutely delicious! We love the idea of using a whole tin of coconut milk to prevent food waste and make an even creamier dish. And as long as the pickle still tasted great with the red onion, then it wasn't a mistake, it's just free-styling ;) Happy spicing!

On a Wednesday we normally have curry and therefore Thursday is Mulligatawny soup day for lunch. This is a super recipe. It sounds like it will be heavy with rice and lentils but the lemon juice and coriander really make it very tasty. I didn’t have chicken legs so used chicken thighs. Given the lack of tasty goodness from the bones I added a chicken stock cube and a half tsp of salt. It’s not too hot chilli wise which is great, you can always add more chilli but can’t take it away. I added a couple of slices of fresh chilli (big ones so not over powering) which were really nice. Roti Paratha. YES! I love paratha- more straight forward to make than you think but I probably added to much oil to the rotii. Still tasted great though! :-).

Yum - what a delicious, warming lunch! Those Roti Paratha look amazing, and they really are lovely and simple to make too. So glad you enjoyed this!

Really nice mild refreshing curry. If you are not a fan of crunching through lemon grass recommend removing before serving. We served it with Carrot Sambal which is super quick to make and really refreshing, cucumber Kerabu using half cucumber and half mango as per one of the also works well with tips and, the bit I am most pleased with Pol Roti. With the Roti the first i made i dry fried as per instructions but it took a long time to cook out the flour. The second one I made I added some oil to the pan. The smell when cooking took me straight back to the Golden Temple in Amritsar with all the ladies teaching me and laughing at my very poor rolling out technique and inability to get any chapati circular! It was DELICIOUS!

This looks so delicious, Helen - great job! It's so nice to hear that this dish brought back happy memories of your adventure in Amritsar. Happy spicing!

Great free sample this month, warming citrusy Asian noodle soup made with carrots and broccoli for a veg version. Made a delicious’Cauliflower 90’ from Curry Legend Veg on the side too. Always better than getting a takeaway!

Durban butter chicken with samosas, carrot sambal, pol roti rice and a chakalaka bean salad. Good fun to make but I would say the samosas do take a bit of time! Make in advance of the curry!

What a feast! Great job, Helen - it all looks fantastic!

Miris Malu Curry with coconut dhal, coconut Sambal, paratha and pilau rice. Chickened out on 5 tsp of mirchi blend! Went for 1.5 instead since that chilli blend is lethal hot. The curry was just spicy enough for us. The coconut Sambal was sensationally good really refreshing and the dhal (which sometimes can be quite bland) was rally flavoursome. Another great meal from the curry legend world curry book. :-)

Helen Mackenow View More

This looks incredible, Helen - nice job! And there's no shame in reducing the Mirchi either, haha! It looks and sounds like you did a great job and got the heat just right for you. Happy spicing!

Hang Lay with steamed Pak Choi, Jasmin rice, chilli salt fruit and paratha (just because I love paratha!). I thought the recipe looked odd adding pickled ginger and garlic at the end but it is super tasty! :-)
